GET EGG-CITED!!! In many cultures around the world, the egg is a symbol of new life, fertility, and a new beginning heralding the start of Spring. Painting and decorating eggs at Easter has become a fun ritual for young and old. So, break open the paint box and create something EGGceptional!
In a large bowl, wash all the eggs in one cup of vinegar mixed with 2 tablespoons (30ml) of soda. Since you will be blowing the insides of the egg out, you don’t want to put your mouth onto dirty eggs! It is exciting for the kids to see the chemical reaction of vinegar and soda!
Everyone will be laughing a lot! Place a small bowl for each person on the table to blow the egg yolks into. Use a thumb tack rather than a needle as it’s easier to hold with your fingers. Push the pin right into the middle of the narrowest end of the egg. Don’t be afraid, it should not break. Push again with the pin at the opposite side, the wider end. Insert a toothpick into the egg to break the egg yolk. Have your bowl ready and blow through the narrow hole until the eggshell is empty. It will take a couple of tries. If it is hard to blow it all out, enlarge the hole a tiny bit and try again. When it’s done, rinse the eggs inside and out. Use a paper towels to dry them out, trying to remove all the liquid inside.
