Irish Luck

Celebrated for hundreds of years in Ireland, the Emerald Isle, St. Paddy’s is a springtime favorite whether you have Irish roots, or Irish tastes. We suggest beginning or ending this year’s edition with a traditional Irish coffee, properly doused with a jigger of Jameson whiskey, and balanced out by a touch of sugar.

The term “Luck of the Irish” was coined during the gold rush of the mid-19th century as a reflection of the good fortune that befell a number of miners of Irish descent, who were not believed to be of any particular merit, hence the attribution of prosperity to chance.

And while it is easy to halve the potato where there is love, we propose making a delicious plate of Colcannon Mashed potatoes, cabbage, kale and onions or leeks - you’ll have more love to go around. Serve with a plate of traditional slow cooked corned beef and a loaf of soda bread, a family heirloom recipe passed down to generations, and you should be set for a fresh pint of Guinness.

Commonly associated with St Patrick’s day, Kelly green is a vibrant and energetic green.

It got its name from the common Irish name Kelly; Ireland has a strong association with the color green because of the lush green landscape of the country.

As a true middle green situated between yellow and blue in the color wheel, Kelly green symbolizes renewal associated with growth and the environment.

Kelly green can be used as a bright, striking decor accent but should be used in controlled doses because of its intensity. It pairs well with white like all the pure colors and other green shades and clean blues.
