Palermo is Sicily’s capital city. It’s layered in history dating back to the Phoenician traders in the 8th Century BC. Palermo alone has 8 Unesco World Heritage sites, all worth visiting. It’s a “foodie” mecca with Sicilian flavors rich in multiple cultures. The street markets are worth multiple visits to eat, shop or just watch the interaction of merchants selling their wares.
