In a large pot, add 6 cups of water. Add all the ingredients to the pan. Start by laying the pine and cedar springs on the top of the water. Cut the fresh orange in half and place amongst the greenery. Next, add the rosemary, bay leaves and cranberries. Top with the dried orange slices and star anise and bring the pot to a simmer over low heat for 1 hour. Add more water as needed.
To reuse and reheat: Drain the potpourri mixture and store in the refrigerator overnight. Reheat by adding the ingredients to a pot of water (6 cups) and bring to a simmer over low heat. Add some fresh ingredients if desired. Discard after 2nd use.
