Make the marinade by whisking together all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Pour the marinade into a large freezer bag and put in the steak. Gently turn the bag over to completely coat the steak with the marinade. Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
To grill, set the BBQ on medium high. Remove the steak from the freezer bag over a large bowl to catch the marinade. Place the flank steak onto the hot grill and brush the top with marinade. Close the grill for 5 minutes. Flip the flank steak over and brush with more marinade. Grill for another 5 minutes for medium rare. Remove from the grill onto a clean cutting board and let stand for 5 minutes.
Cut the flank steak across the grain into thin strips.
