Brown Sugar Glaze

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (125ml) butter, unsalted
  • ½ cup (125ml) dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) table cream
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (250ml) icing sugar

Method

Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.  Once melted, stir in sugar.  Increase the heat to medium/high and cook for 1-2 minutes stirring constantly until bubbling.  Add the cream while stirring constantly until mixture returns to a boil.  Remove from heat and mix in the sea salt and vanilla.  Sift the icing sugar over the mixture and whisk until smooth. Pour over the cake and spread to the edges.  

Let set for 10 minutes before serving.
