Wooden Box Camembert

A delicious appetizer, so simple to make and beautiful too! We first discovered this ingenious way of serving camembert in its wooden box, while sipping Rosé in Vouvray while visiting the Loire Valley, France.

Ingredients

  • 8-ounce (250 g) wheel of Camembert in wooden box
  • Fresh thyme
  • Honey

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F/177°C. 

Remove cheese from box and discard the wrapping.  Place the lid over the base of the box and place on baking sheet.  Remove the top layer of rind from the cheese and place back into box.  Sprinkle with thyme leaves, and bake until soft and creamy, about 15 minutes. 

Serve hot from oven; drizzle with honey and add fresh thyme leaves.  Serve with crusty bread slices and/or crudité.
