LAS CATALINAS / COSTA RICA
Discover a haven of Beauty and Goodness, A very unique town in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The founders of Las Catalinas, a New Urbanist beach town located in Costa Rica, had a dream to slow time down while creating a sustainable way of life. They took the best from the world architectural heritage to design an idyllic place to vacation or even, to live.
The vision was to make Las Catalinas environmentally friendly and walkable, but approachable by intertwining the private and public spaces. They adhered to the following design tenants:
- Creating architecture that is timeless and simple
- Taking advantage of every view – to the sky, to the sea, to the mountains
- Ensuring longevity by using sustainable, durable materials
- Honoring the location and climate by designing buildings that can sustain the extremes
- Perpetuating the honesty and purity of the site by implementing multiple environmental standards to minimize the footprint of the development

LAS CATALINAS COLOR PALETTE
There is a very distinctive, deliberate color scheme here. Hues drawn from nature – the sky, the sea, the sand – are everywhere. Bold punches of color accentuate the neutrals and create a harmony with the surroundings.
The "harmony" created by the colors above invokes a sense of calm and serenity. The darker hues ground the palette by creating a strong foundation. The lighter ones emit a warm energy.
Everything is deliberate here. The deep overhangs guard against the strong afternoon sun and/or showers. Views are towards the ocean or the mountains. Local iconic elements are interspersed throughout the development to enforce a sense of place.
AND OF COURSE, EAT AND DRINK
What is a vacation without fantastic food and drink? Local delicacies and island infused fare were daily high points!
